Apple Brown Betty
4 slices bread, cubed 1/2 cup butter, melted 1/4 tsp cinnamon dash nutmeg dash salt 3 Tbsp brown sugar, firmly packed 2 cups cooking apples, peeled and chopped
Mix bread cubes with butter, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt and brown sugar. Arrange in alternate layers with apples in crockette.
Cover and cook 2 to 3 hours or until apples are tender.
Serve warm with cream, hard sauce or ice cream.
