No-Fail Chocolate Chippers

2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
1 3/4 cups flour
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup butter -- (1 stick) room temperature
1 cup brown sugar -- (packed)
1/2 cup sugar
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 pkg. milk chocolate chips -- (1 ounce) (about 2 cups) (1 to 11.5)
Preheat the oven to 375 F. Finely ground the oats in a food processor. Add the flour
baking soda, and salt. Blend about 5 seconds. Beat the butter and both the sugars in a
large bowl until well blended. Beat in the eggs and the vanilla. Mix in the dry
ingredients. Mix in the walnuts and the chocolate chips. For each cookie, form 2 rounded
tablespoons of dough into a ball. Place on an ungreased cookie sheet. Flatten slightly.
Bake until the edges are golden brown, about 12 minutes. Cool on the sheets for 5 minutes.
Transfer to wire racks and cool completely. Makes about 2 dozen
