Almond Bars

1 cup Shortening
1/2 cup Sugar
1/2 cup Honey
3 Eggs -- well, beaten
1/4 teaspoon Salt
1/2 cup Powdered sugar
1/2 cup Finely chopped blanched almonds
2 cups Flour
2 teaspoons Baking powder
1 teaspoon Vanilla
Grated rind 1 lemon
Cream shortening and sugar. Add honey, eggs, and lemon rind. Mix thoroughly. Sift flour, measure, and sift three times with baking powder and salt. Add chopped nuts and flavoring. Mix thoroughly. Pour into shallow, well-oiled pan. Bake in moderate oven (375 F) 12-15 minutes. Remove from oven. Cool. Turn onto board well dusted with powdered sugar. Cut in oblong bars.
