Crispy Peanut Butter Bars

2 1/2 cups crisp rice cereal
1 1/4 cups rolled oats (not instant)
1 cup chopped mixed dried fruit (apricots -- dates,
raisins -- apples or cranberries)
1 cup chopped peanuts
3/4 cup packed brown sugar
3/4 cup Skippy Creamy Peanut Butter
3/4 cup golden corn syrup
1/2 cup cocoa
In a large bowl, combine rice cereal, oats, dried
fruit and chopped peanuts. In a small saucepan, over
low heat, heat brown sugar, peanut butter and corn
syrup, stirring until melted and smooth; stir in
cocoa. Pour over dry ingredients; mix well.
Press firmly into greased, foil-lined 9 x 13 inch (3.5
L) cake pan. Cool until set. Remove from pan; peel off
foil. Cut into bars. Store in airtight container. May
be frozen.
Tip
Mix thoroughly so dry ingredients are all moistened.
Mixture will seem a bit crumbly before being pressed
into pan.
