Hamberger Steak with optional Mushroom/Garlic Gravey Sauce

Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method

2 lb lean Ground Beef
1 Tbl Worchestshire sauce
1 egg
1/2 Green Pepper (diced or minced)
1/3 cup scallions (chopped or minced)
{can sub 1 small onion}
1 tsp minced garlic
Salt & Pepper to taste.
1 cup French's Fried Onions (coursely crushed)
1 cup Italian seasoned bread crumbs (divided)
1/4 cup olive oil

Mix the first 7 ingredients together. Use part of the bread crumbs
to make the mixture into a moist meatloaf consistency.
Divide the meat mixture into 6 portions and form into patties.
Put the crushed fried onions and bread crumbs in a shallow bowl or
plate and pat the onion mixture onto both sides of the burger
patties.
Fry the patties to a golden brown and place in a cassrole dish. Bake
in a 325 degree oven for 45 minutes to insure doneness. Serve with
the sauce over or on the side.
Mushroom and Garlic Sauce
1 lb. mushrooms (of your choice)
or 1 small can
3 minced garlic cloves
1 T. oil
1 1/2 C. beef broth
3 T. flour
3 T. butter
Saute mushrooms in oil with garlic. Cook 4 minutes and add beef
broth. Bring to a boil and cook about 4 minutes. Mix butter and
flour together. Whisk into mushroom mixture. Add salt and pepper to
taste.
Note: After sauteing mushrooms you could if you like add a little
Maderia or Sherry. Cook a couple of minutes before continuing with
recipe.
