Traditional Beef Stew

Ingredients
1 medium onion -- diced
4 pounds stewing beef
1 pound carrots -- sliced
6 potatoes -- cubed
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
2 bay leaves
1 1/2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/4 teaspoon cloves
Instructions
Combine all of the ingredients in a 5-quart slow cooker and add enough water to cover the ingredients.
Cook on low 7 to 8 hours or on high 3 1/2 to 4 hours. Discard bay leaves before serving. Serve with hot rolls or biscuits.
