Amount Measure Ingredient -- Preparation Method
-------- ------------ --------------------------------
1 packet Kool Aid (any flavor) (.20)
2 cups club soda (.99 for 32 oz.)
1/2 cup sugar
2 1/2 cups crushed ice
Put the Kool Aid (they now have a Peach Mango flavor that we tried...yum!), sugar, and 1 cup club soda in a blender and blend on high until the sugar is dissolved. Add the ice and blend until mixture is smooth.
Add remaining club soda and blend for a second or two. Mixture should be very "slushy". Place in freezer for approximately 30 minutes so mixture can freeze just a little.
I was really surprised at the consistency of the finished product. It is very much the consistency of a slurpee from 7-11. You can't even taste the club soda.
As you can see from the prices I listed above, this is significantly cheaper than buying a slurpee from 7-11. This recipe makes two generous slurpees, or approximately .35 per slurpee! And most importantly, my boys loved them.
Description:
"I have been looking for fun recipes for my kids for this summer. It's only May and we've already had a couple of 90+ degree days! I found this recipe at the My World Made by Hand web site. She said her kids thought these were BETTER than slurpees from
7-11, so I thought I needed to give them a try!"
