CHEESY APPLE SQUARES
1 1/2 c. flour 1 1/2 c. graham cracker crumbs 1 c. firmly packed brown sugar 1/2 tsp. baking soda 3/4 c. margarine, softened 1 1/2 c. shredded American or Cheddar cheese 2 1/2 c. peeled, sliced cooking apples 3/4 c. sugar 1/2 c. chopped nuts Reserved crumbs
Combine flour, graham cracker crumbs, brown sugar, baking soda and margarine in large bowl until crumbly. Reserve 1/2 cup crumbs and pat remaining crumbs into ungreased 9x13 inch pan. Sprinkle cheese over crumb bottom. Combine apples and white sugar and spoon over cheese layer. Combine reserved crumbs and nuts and sprinkle over apples. Bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes until golden brown. Serve warm. Store in refrigerator.
